Designs

IIP can help you to identify and protect your designs.

A design registration is used to protect the shape, configuration, pattern or ornamentation of an object. The object could be a 3-dimensional thing such as a watch, or 2-dimensional such as a pattern on textile fabric.

A design registration protects the visual appearance of something and not the underlying function. The protection afforded by a design registration typically lasts for around 10-15 years depending on the country.

Design registrations can often be used in conjunction with other IP rights such as patents, since a patent protects the functionality of a product and a design registration protects the appearance of the product.

Further, our integrated Design and Marketing service can help you with the creation of your designs.
