IIP is thrilled to exhibit at Western Australia’s (WA) Indo-Pacific Space and Earth Conference and Exhibition, where innovation, collaboration, and investment are taking the local space industry to new heights.
At the opening of WA Space Week, Science Minister Stephen Dawson highlighted the Cook Government’s vision to make WA a globally recognised Indo-Pacific space hub. WA has been a significant contributor to the space industry for over 60 years, supporting iconic missions like NASA’s Apollo, Gemini, and India’s Chandrayaan.
The event marks an exciting time for WA, with the Cook Government unveiling a $3.5 million co-investment to establish the State’s first commercial satellite assembly facility through LatConnect 60 Ltd, matched by an additional $3.5 million from the company.
This $7 million investment will pave the way for the development of advanced satellite capabilities, including:
- Payload development and manufacturing
- Satellite assembly and payload integration
- Sensor calibration and data processing
The facility, expected to launch its first satellite in 2026, will monitor and quantify greenhouse gas emissions globally. With plans for a constellation of 18 satellites, this project positions WA as a major player in the $13.2 billion global small satellite market by 2032.
IIP is proud to support this momentum by offering expertise in intangible asset protection and space law expertise for innovators in the space sector.
